Fables - A Fable (Story) that teaches a moral

THE GARBAGE THROWER

She thought till late at midnight and finally decided how to take revenge from him. She could not sleep all night, because she was too eager to take revenge for the idols she worshiped. Even before the first ray of sunlight had entered her window, she was busy sweeping her house. She saved all the garbage in a basket, placed it on the roof of her house and proudly looked at it for a while, then with an impatient look on her face, she looked at the street that she lived on, and thought, "No one has ever seen him angry. Everybody will praise me when they will see him shouting at me and getting mad. They will laugh at him and make fun of him." She looked at the basket again and grinned.

Meanwhile, she heard footsteps, announcing the approach of the end of her waiting. "Finally my prey has arrived," she thought, as she saw a man dressed in clean, white clothes coming that way. She picked up the basket in her hands and threw all the garbage on him when he passed by. Much to the woman's disappointment, he did not say anything and continued on his way.

She did the same the following day thinking, "Maybe this time I will be able to annoy him." But he was too gentle to shout at a woman. She misinterpreted his attitude as fear and decided to repeat the same mischief everyday in order to keep him frightened, so that he might stop preaching the Oneness of God.

This gentleman whom the woman hated so much was Muhammad (pbuh), the last prophet of Allah Almighty. He did not want to disappoint the woman and so continued to walk down the street everyday, instead of picking an alternate route, and prayed for the woman to recognize the Truth.

One day, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) did not find the woman to be on the roof of her house with the basket. This worried him, because he thought something must have happened to her for not being over there. So he knocked at the door. "Who is it?" asked a feeble voice. "Muhammad bin Abdullah," was the reply, "can I come in?" The woman feared, "I am sick, and too weak to fight or talk back, therefore Muhammad has come to take revenge for what I have been doing to him." But the permission to enter her house was in such a gentle voice that she allowed him in.

Muhammad (pbuh) entered the house and told the woman that not finding her on the roof had worried him and he thus wanted to inquire about her health. On finding out how ill she was, he gently asked if she needed any help. Hypnotized by the affectionate tone in the Holy Prophet's (pbuh) blessed voice, she forgot all fear and asked for some water. He kindly gave her some in a utensil and prayed for her health, while she quenched her thirst. This made her feel very guilty for being so cruel to him in the past and she apologized for her mean behavior. He forgave her and came to her house everyday to clean it, to feed her and to pray for her, till she was on her feet again. The kind attitude of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) inspired her into the recognition of the Truth, and his prayers were answered in the form of yet another addition into the growing number of Muslims.

THE OLD LADY

One day Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) was going somewhere at noon and it was too hot in the desert when He (S.A.W) saw an old woman carrying her luggage on her head. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) helped her and took the luggage from the woman and carried it for her..

Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) asked the woman that where she was going and why? She said that I am leaving this town as I have heard that a magician named Muhammad (S.A.W) is in town.

As Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) was very patient and kind, He (S.A.W) didn't say a word and kept listening. The old lady kept complaining that why she was leaving the town.

In short the basic reason of her to leave the town was her misconception about Muhammad (S.A.W), who was walking beside her and she didn't knew it.

When they reached the destination, Muhammad (S.A.W) put down the bag and was about to leave when the old woman said, "O, kind person! At least tell me your name!". Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) replied, "I am the person because of whom you left the town."The old lady was amazed to listen that and said that such a kind, helping and true person can never be wrong and therefore she also accepted Islam..

GRINDING THE GRAIN

Once Muhammad (peace be upon him) saw a slave grinding some grain on a grinding mill driven by hand. As he ground the grains he was crying. On seeing this Prophet became anxious. He asked the slave the reason why he was weeping. The slave said, "I am sick. I cannot grind the grain. My master is very cruel and he will beat me if I cannot finish my job." At this, the Prophet stepped forward and ground the rest of the grain saying, "Always call me if you have any grain to grind. I will do it for you."

HELPING THE WEAK

Another time, the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw an old man walking and trembling under the weight of water which he carried in a leather jacket. The old man walked a few steps and rested a bit. Seeing this, the Prophet took the load and carried it to his place.

THE HOLY PROPHET AND THE SOUR GRAPES

One day a poor man brought a bunch of grapes to the holy Prophet Muhammad as a gift. 
The Holy Prophet (pbuhf) ate one, two, three and then the whole bunch of grapes by himself. 
He did not offer grapes to anyone present. The poor man who brought those grapes was very 
pleased and left. One of the companions asked, "O Prophet of Allah ! How come 
you ate all the grapes by yourself and did not offer to any one of us present? 

The holy Prophet smiled and said, "I ate all the grapes by myself because the grapes 
were sour. If I would have offered you, you might have made funny faces and that would have 
hurt the feelings of that poor man. I thought to myself that it's better that I eat all of them cheerfully and please the poor man. I did not want to hurt the feelings of that poor man." 
Such were the manners of this most noble Prophet of Allah. 

The Man who wanted to sell his camel 
One day the Holy Prophet of Allah was going somewhere when he met a man selling a camel. 
The Holy Prophet liked the camel and bought it at an agreed price. The Holy Prophet (P) 
did not have money on him at the time so he asked the camel dealer to follow him up to his home and he would pay him his due. The man agreed. As they were going, another man approached and asked the camel dealer if he was selling his camel and for how much. He said that he had already sold the camel to the Holy Prophet for such an amount. This man offered him better price and he agreed to sale the camel to him. The Holy Prophet said to the camel dealer that since he had already sold the camel to him, it was wrong to break the agreement just like that. The man denied making any agreement. 

Whilst all this was going on, the passersby stopped and wondered as to what was going on. The Apostle of Allah explained exactly what happened. Companions: O Prophet of Allah, do you have any witnesses to support your claim?" Holy Prophet (P): No. We have no witnesses as there was no one present when the agreement was made. Companions: Sorry, we don't think we can help you. How can we be sure who is telling the truth and who is lying? A very close companion of the holy Prophet (probably hazrat Ali or hazrat Abu Dharr) happened to pass by and saw the Holy Prophet surrounded by the people. On inquiring about it, came to know what happened. Hazrat Ali: The Prophet of Allah is telling the truth and the camel dealer is lying. The holy Prophet: But you were not present when the agreement was made. So how can you judge without being there?

Hazrat Ali: O Prophet of Allah, you said that there is Allah and we believed you, even though we haven't seen Him. You told us that Qur'an was the word of Allah and we believed you. You told us about angels, heaven and hell and we believed you, even though we haven't seen all these things. How is it possible that you would lie about such a petty thing?

The moral of the story is that there were some sahabas who walked, sat and ate with the Prophet of Allah, but did not grasp his inner personality and at the same time there were also some other companions of the Holy Prophet who understood him physically as well as spiritually. Islam has put a lot of emphasis on enjoining good and prohibiting evil.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuhf) has given a beautiful example which is as follows.

IFTAR

Anas Malik was one of the companions who had served the Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W.) for many years. He therefore knew the Prophet's habits very well.

When Hadhrat Muhammed (S.A.W.) observed a fast, he usually broke it with milk and dates, and in the small hours of the night, he would take simple food for his sahar.

One day, Anas knew that the Prophet (S.A.W.) was fasting; so he arranged for his iftar. He kept the milk and dates ready. At the time of iftar the Prophet (S.A.W.) did not appear, for the breaking of the fast. Anas thought that the Prophet (S.A.W.) might have accepted an invitation and broken his fast elsewhere. So Anas ate the food himself and retired.

When Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W.) entered the house with another companion, Anas inquired from the companion whether the Prophet (S.A.W.) had already eaten. The Prophet (S.A.W.) had been dealing with some urgent work and was delayed, and he had not eaten. Anas felt so ashamed.

There was nothing left he could offer to the Prophet (S.A.W.), if he asked for food. Still he waited expectantly, ready to explain the situation to the Prophet (S.A.W.). Hadhrat Muhammed (S.A.W.) immediately sensed that Anas was hesitant, so he remained silent and retired to bed hungry.

Anas used to say: "The Messenger of God never mentioned this incident during his lifetime to anyone."

Who is A True Muslim...???

TRUE MUSLIM

Allah Taa’la mentions in the Qur’an about a true Muslim:

“Those who believe in the unseen and are steadfast in Salaah and spend out of what we have provided for them.”

A TRUE MUSLIM IS A TRUE HUMAN BEING:

A Muslim is a person who is not only faithful to Islam but is also faithful to the humanity. He knows the meaning of being a human because Islam is a religion that gives priority to human rights. If a person is a good human, then he has all the characteristics to be called a Muslim. Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) has also mentioned about human rights in his Hadiths. Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) said:

“By his good character a believer will attain the degree of one who prays during the night and fasts during the day.”

For a true Muslim, the fulfillment of the rights of God and the rights of mankind are both important to complete his Imaan. A Muslim doesn’t hurt anyone through any of his deeds. He takes care of his neighbors, his parents, family and other people surrounding him. The Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) said,

"The best of you is he who is the best to his family."

Accordingly, be kind to them, always support them. Not only he cares about other Muslims, but he is also responsible for the rights of non-Muslims. This is the reason why Islam is said to be the most superior religion of the world.

TO SEEK ALLAH’S PLEASURE:

A true Muslim does everything only for the sake of Allah and for seeking His pleasure. A person is said to be a Muslim if he believes that God is one and there is no God except Him and Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) is His last prophet. Without this, a Muslim’s Imaan is not said to be completed. He has strong faith in Allah. He believes that whatever hardships he faces in his life are a sign of Allah’s trial and this belief helps him to lead a contended life. He is always thankful to Allah for His blessings.

A true Muslim prays sincerely and never delays his prayers no matter what happens to him. He gives priority to his prayers and his God. It is important for a Muslim to pray five times a day, recite and understand what’s written in the Holy Quran after every prayer.

The prayer which is the most pleasurable to Allah is when a Muslim prays at night and the other people are asleep. That time is called “Tahajjud”.

STAYS AWAY FROM SINS:

A true Muslim stays away from sinful acts because they could become the reason for his ruin. It is said by Allah that hell is the sinner’s place. All his deeds are to earn heaven where all the righteous people will be sent on the Day of Judgment. A Muslim protects his body and his thoughts from shameful activities and thoughts. He lowers his gaze when he sees a woman passing by. He stays away from telling lies, abusing others, impressing others and other sins.

CLEANLINESS:

Cleanliness is very essential for a person to become a true Muslim.

The Arabic word for cleanliness is “Tahara”. Islam has given importance to it in both spiritual and physical ways. Through the verses of Holy Quran, the importance of cleanliness can be shown. Allah has said in the Holy Quran:

"Truly, Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean." (Al Baqarah 2:222)

“Wazu” in Islam is said to be a means of hygiene for Muslims which they have to do before every kind of prayers, whether it’s Namaz, reciting Quran, or fasting. It purifies a Muslim and prepares him to pray to Allah, the one who is the purest.

Through the above content, don’t judge others whether they are good Muslims or not. Instead, judge yourself, whether you are a true Muslim and are on the right path.

Islam - Five Basic Beliefs in Islam

INTRODUCTION:

Islam is an Arabic word which means guidance and peace. It is a religion which preaches peace and harmony, not only for its followers, but for the humanity. The people who are righteous and pious in the eyes of God follow Islam and these followers are called Muslims.

The message of Islam is not new. It is the same message which was conveyed to the people by other Prophets. Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) and his son Hazrat Ismael (A.S) conveyed the message of oneness of Allah to the people of their nation, and then it was conveyed by Hazrat Moosa (A.S), Eesa (A.S) and all the other prophets of Allah. Their people were bestowed Holy books by Allah for guidance but they made fun of the prophets and the books. They believed and worshiped the creations of Allah such as the sun, the moon, fire etc, and the false gods made of wood and clay. Allah led those people through hardships; they were not able to face His torments and were destroyed.

When the humanity was about to destroy itself by wrong deeds, Allah sent his last Prophet, Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) to guide the people of Arab by spreading a new religion; Islam. The Holy Prophet had to face severe difficulties and hardships to bring people towards Islam and hospitality. The people used to kill others for water; they used to bury their newborn daughters alive. Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) guided the people through his sayings (Hadith) and the Holy Quran. Allah says in the Qur’ân:

"Say, `We believe in ALLAH and that which has been revealed to us, and that which was revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and in that which was given to Moses and Jesus and other Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them and to HIM we submit." (Qur’ân 3-85)

ARTICLES OF FAITH IN ISLAM:

There are six articles of faith in Islam:

1.      Have belief in the oneness of Allah

2.      Have belief in Angels

3.      Have belief on Allah’s four books

4.      Have belief on His prophets

5.      Have belief on The Day of Judgment

6.      Have belief in Allah’s superiority

PILLARS OF ISLAM:

A person has to apply and follow the five pillars of Islam sincerely to be called a Muslim. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said:

“Islam is based on the following five pillars (principles).”

1.      To have faith there is no God other than Allah and the Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) is His last prophet. (Based on the first Kalima)

2.      Observing Namaz.

3.      Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

4.      Giving charity to the needy. (Zakaat)

5.      Performing Hajj at the Holy Kaaba.

THE HOLY QURAN:

Among the four Holy books of Allah, the Holy Quran is His last book which was bestowed upon His beloved Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him). The message of Allah was sent to him by Hazrat Jibrael (A.S), the angel of Allah and these messages were memorized by the followers of the Prophet and were compiled later by one of his companions Hazrat Usman Ghani (R.A). These verses were given the name of the Quran, through which Muslims find the solutions to their questions about any aspect of their lives.

The holy Quran is written in the Arabic language. It is translated in many languages around the world. The Holy books, which were bestowed on the other prophets of Allah, have now lost their originality, as the people of that era used to make changes in them, but, even after 1400 years, the Holy Quran is still in its original condition. No one can change it nor regret it, because Allah has taken the responsibility of its protection. The Holy books which were bestowed upon the other prophets were only for their own nations and people who followed them, but the Holy Quran is the book through which not only a Muslim, but every person in this world of any nation and language can take guidance.

The present situation of the Muslims around the world is due to their unfamiliarity with their Holy book. They have turned a deaf ear to it. It is stated in the Holy Quran:

“And how will you disbelieve (now) while you are (fortunate) ones to whom the Verses of Allah are recited, and the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) is (himself) present among you? And whoever holds fast to (the Embrace of) Allah is most surely guided to the straight path.”
(Sura A’l-Imran 3, verse # 101)

 It is very important in the present era that we try to give some time to read and understand our Holy book, so that we can teach our next generations about it.

“And indeed We have made the Qur’an easy for direction and guidance, but is there anyone who will take advice?”
(Sura Al-Qamar 54, verse # 17)

The most incredible thing about it is that if the enemies of Muslims try to burn every single Quran from this world, then, still it will remain in this world in the hearts of those who have memorized it.

THE DAY OF JUDGMENT:

Islam is the religion of peace and justice. Equal punishment and equal rewards are given to those who deserve it. People strive hard to get justice in this world and same is the mission of Allah; justice and equality for everyone. On the Day of Judgment, everyone will receive the fruit of his deeds which he has done in this world. Allah says in the Holy Quran:

“And every soul shall be paid in full what it had done; and He knows best what they do.”

Allah has stated several times in the Holy Quran that every being of this world will die. They will be then buried and raised again on the Day of Judgment, on which, they will be rewarded by their creator for their good and bad deeds. On hearing the sound of a trumpet (Sur), all the people of the world will rise from their graves and wake up from their eternal sleep.

“And the Trumpet shall be blown, then shall swoon (i.e., die) whoever is in heavens and whoever is in the earth, except those whom Allah has willed (to keep alive on that occasion). Then (the Trumpet) shall be blown again and lo! They shall stand up awaiting.”

THE RIGHTLY GUIDED CALIPHS: 

The caliphs were the people who were given the right to rule and lead the Muslims after the death of Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him). They had played a very important role in the spread of Islam. They faced extreme hardships for the sake of Allah and their religion; Islam and are promised to be rewarded by Allah for their deeds.

The four main Caliphs of Islam were very close companions of the Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him). After his death, his best friend and the first adult in males to embrace Islam Hazrat Abu Bakra Siddique (R.A) was made the first Caliph. He governed for two years. After his death Hazrat Umar (R.A) was made the second Caliph of Islam.

He remained the Caliph of Islam for a decade. Islam spread the most throughout the world in his rule. His governed over many areas such as Syria, Egypt and the Persian Empire too. He was the first Muslim ruler to establish a public treasury and also a financial administration. Many Islamic practices were established in his rule.

Hazrat Usman Ghani (R.A) was made the third Caliph of Islam. The world of Islam continued to expand during his twelve years of government. His main contribution for Islam was to compile and make copies of the Holy Quran, which were sent throughout the Islamic world.

Hazrat Ali (R.A), who was the cousin and the son-in-law of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him), was made the fourth Caliph of Islam. He is still known to this world for his bravery and his servings for Islam.

Hence, the rightly guided Caliphs of Islam are still known and respected by the Muslims of this world and have a place in their hearts for their deeds.

CONCLUSION:

In the modern era, Islam has its own identity throughout the world. The believers of this religion are increasing day by day especially in Europe and America. The Muslims are willing to live in the west to modify their lives but, at the same time it is their wish not to be dominated by the customs and traditions of the west. The message of Islam to the people of every religion and nation is peace and harmony.
